CNS Drug Development
In June 2010, we announced that we entered into an exclusive North American license agreement with BioLineRx for the development and commercialization of a novel antipsychotic, CYP-1020, a potential breakthrough treatment for schizophrenia. CYP-1020 is a first-in-class GABA-enhanced antipsychotic that combines dopamine antagonism with GABA agonist activity. CYP-1020’s dopamine antagonism reflects a well-established pathway to improve the psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia. Furthermore, both preclinical and clinical data suggest that CYP-1020’s GABA enhancement may provide the basis for improved cognition.
Personalized Medicine Services
In February 2009, we announced the closing of a transaction to acquire Cellatope Corporation’s technology platform. This technology platform uses cell-bound complement activation products (CB-CAP) to diagnose and monitor debilitating autoimmune disorders, including lupus. The earliest any services using the CB-CAP technology would be available commercially is the fourth quarter of 2010.
